How do OnDemand version numbers compare to downloadable versions? Are the release cycles in sync?

You can keep track of versions on the Altlassian wiki and track the updates to OnDemand which happen almost weekly.

They are pretty much in sync I would say. Atleast the major versions. They were working towards that ever since onDemand was released and I am sure they will keep the major changes in sync.
