When I first installed Jira, I entered a username for the admin user that does not conform to the convention used here. I would like to change the admin username to adhere to the standard adopted here. I didn't see a way to change the username in my profile, can you explain to me how this is done?
It may not be possible to change a user username in JIRA at the current moment. You may kindly refer to the following related feature request for more details on this:
Since this is the case, I believe that there may be 2 workaround for us, which are:
- Create a new user using the desired username, and grant the created user the administrator role. Then you reassign all the cases associated to the current admin user to the created user, and remove the current admin user. Or;
- Follow the instructions outlined in https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Changing+Usernames+in+JIRA
In the mean time Bill, I hope that you may cast your vote to JRA-1549 to increase the request popularity, and feel free to drop your comment to the issue if you have any further feedback on this.
I hope that the info above helps.
I belive the feature is not available in current JIRA. However, I notice there is a improvement ticket raised in Atlassian, please see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1549 for reference.
To rename the username, I can suggest you to use script runner plugin that has a script to perform the action:
