Can anyone please tell how can I make a workflow from inactive to active?

Aditi Sharma February 6, 2018

The main issue is I am not able to add a transition. I was continuously getting error 'You cannot perform this operation on draft workflow'. And I am not able to delete status as well. I had gone through 'More information page' as well. But nothing is mentioned there also.

An active workflow is simply one used in a workflow scheme that is currently in use by at least one project.

To delete status (and do a couple of other things), you need to work on an inactive flow.  The easiest way to do this is usually to copy the current one to a new name, as a copy will not be associated.  Make your edits, and then go into the workflow scheme and replace the old one with it - Jira will then migrate issues to it, asking questions if it needs to (if you delete a status for example, you'll need to tell it what status to put on issues currently with the deleted one)

How to replace the old one with new one, that is my question? When I am going to Project section and trying to switch scheme in Workflows section, it is showing only active workflows in the dropdown. It's not showing the inactive ones

I'm a bit lost - the dropdown in the scheme should list all workflows, irrespective of active or not.

I got confused in workflows and workflow schemes. In dropdown, it shows all workflow schemes(including active and inactive). I previously thought that it is showing workflows not workflow schemes. Anyways I had added new workflow in workflow scheme and now I am able to associate it. Thanks for your help.
