Why is the Story Point count in my Burnup Report different than my Velocity Report (same sprint)?

Hello,

We just completed Sprint#4 for our Inspire Wall project and when I look at the Burnup Report the sprint completed line says we completed 53.5 out of 68 story points however the Velocity Report says that we completed 53.5 out of 74 story points.  Why is it different?

Hello @Kyle Ray

The difference between the total 68 story points, presented in the burndown chart, and the committed 74 story points from the velocity charts come from the following:

  • Velocity chart registers the completed story points VS the number of story points that were in the sprint backlog when the sprint was started (commitment)
  • Burndown chart registers the completed story points VS the number of story points in the sprint when the sprint ends (total of the sprint backlog on closure)

Hello @Fernando Bordallo

Fair enough, thank you.
