How to use templates in Issue Templates for Jira app: Apply a template to an existing issue part 2/3

Hey, have you heard the latest? We've just rolled out a brand-new onboarding process for our most popular product, the Issue Templates for Jira Cloud plugin. If you're a Jira Administrator, get ready to embark on a comprehensive journey, learning how to utilize the app to its fullest 🚀.

Don't hold back if you're not a Jira Admin!

Inclusivity is key, and that's why we've chosen to share the onboarding step-by-step on the Atlassian Community.

Today's topic is applying a template to an existing issue

Apart from creating new issues from templates, you can also apply a template to an existing issue. In the issue view go to the Actions menu and click Apply template.

Steps

  1. Simply select a template you wish to use and click apply.

Warning: Applying a template overwrites fields in the issue with values taken from the template

Note: If a template contains sub-tasks or issue links, they will be automatically created under the issue.
