Initial Setup in Issue Templates for Jira app: Choose repository (part 1/2)

Have you heard? Lately, we've released a new onboarding process in one of our bestsellers, Issue Templates for Jira Cloud plugin. From now on, as Jira Administrator, you can learn step-by-step how to make the most of the app 🚀.

Not a Jira Admin? We've got you covered!

We wanted to make our onboarding available for everyone. This is why we decided to publish the onboarding part by part here, on the Atlassian Community.

The first step we would like to explain is... <drums>... choosing a repository!

The templates repository is a regular Jira project in which all issues automatically become templates 🎨.

Templates created in the repository can be used for creating repetitive tasks in Jira.

To effectively use Issue Templates for Jira, you need at least two projects:

  • One project for templates called templates repository
  • Another to create issues from previously created templates

Steps

  1. Navigate to Jira Settings > Manage Apps.
  2. Click Configuration in the Issue Templates for Jira section on the left sidebar.
  3. Select a project from the list or Create new (Software project is recommended)
