use JQL to find "In Progress" items in the Backlog

Hi - I have 31 issues in my backlog that are "In-Progress", which is obviously not correct.  They got there because when closing the Sprint we did not change their status and they are set to go back to the backlog. I want to find them and clean them up.

how can I use JQL to find items in "In Progress" status, but in the backlog?

project = "CAD Development" AND status = "In Progress" AND (??)

I tried "Sprint is EMPTY", but some of them do have a sprint associated with them, so not getting all that are in the backlog.

Thanks for any assistance!!

Hi @Scott Porter ,

Try using this JQL query: project = "CAD Development" and status = "In Progress" AND (sprint IS EMPTY OR Sprint not in (openSprints(), futureSprints())) ORDER BY created DESC
