unable to split issue when custom field is required on original issue

Hi Team,

Thanks for taking time to look into it.

when user is trying to split issue in backlog, they are not able to split original issue. Since, original issue has two required field, so they are getting error. Let me know if there are any workaround or any solution to resolved this issue.

Split an issue? Can you explain?

When new story issue type is created on backlog and it has several required field on original story issue type. After creating new story, when we are trying create split of original story, user is getting error message as below.

Error

Error occurred while creating issue through workflow: Location: Location is required. | Work Type: Work Type is required.

There is another post function is calling on workflow, even-though field is already set required. I believe once i remove post function than they will be able to split issue with any error.

  1. Well I still don’t know what “split” is. I have never heard of such a function if that is even what it is. Maybe this is some automation rule named Split. That aside the error seems to be saying that there is a required field Location that is needed when creating an issue and you are not providing it. If this is an automation rule then you need to edit the rule and include setting the Location field as an action. 

it is used when user has one big story task, so user can split that same story into multiple story and share work. with other team members.

I have resolved that error by updating post function on their workflow.
