report in multi level in jira

Majid Uosefi September 25, 2017

Hello, First, accept my apology for my weak English

We have a project in our company. The project is divided into 5 sub-projects. Each sub-project is subdivided into 5 sub-projects again, and also each sub-project is subdivided into 5 sub-projects. (Three level of sub-projects, like tree ).

After these three levels, tasks, and sub-tasks begin.  Our teammate log the times of each operation in work log window. Question here:

Can we report the time spent on each sub-project? Can get  the total number of time registered in each sub-project?

You say you're already logging time, so you must have set something up already.

Jira does not have sub-projects, so we're going to have to ask what you have set up so far.  At what level are you using Jira's projects?

I mean something else, I put my question in another way.

can I define several levels of task in jira, and when we get a higher level report, jira collect and show the total number of hours registered in all sub-task

Yes, but the layers in Jira won't support you in the way you describe directly.

You've got sub-task, issue and project as the main artefacts, and you can categorise projects as a very simple layer above them.  Then there's Epics (if you have Software) that layer themselves across project.  Then if you get Portfolio, you'll be able to do themes and plans, which is probably what you need to do here.
