"You cannot create issues in this project"

Edmond Dang March 8, 2022

Hi team, my colleague is having trouble creating issues in our project. They have the same role as the rest of us and when I tried to cut a ticket, it's working like usual. Is there a reason why that specific colleague can't cut a ticket?

As you can see below, everyone's roles are the same but only the first person can't cut a ticket. I have also attached an image below of the error.Screen Shot 2022-03-08 at 6.20.38 PM.pngScreen Shot 2022-03-08 at 6.22.22 PM.png

Hello @Edmond Dang

Are you working with Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center?

What type of project are you working in - Software, Business/Work Management, or Service Management?

If you are working with Jira Cloud is this a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project?

For Jira Server/Data Center and for Company Managed projects in Jira Cloud, permission to create issues is defined through a Permission Scheme associated with the project. In the scheme the Create Issue permission can be allocated to user groups, project roles, and other entities. If you are working within that scope, first confirm to whom the Create Issue permission is allocated and ensure that the user is assigned to one of those entities.

A Jira Administrator can also use the Administrator Helper to see if the user has the right permissions. Refer to https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/use-the-jira-admin-helper/

Hi @Trudy Claspill I am facing the same issue so thought of using this existing thread instead of opening a new one :)

Type of project= Software & I am using JIRA Cloud and this is a Team-managed project.

Hello @Troy

You should start a new Question post, as this post is over a year old. Besides including the details you provided, if you think this post is relevant you could include a link to it.

Additionally, you should include information about the role assigned to the user and the permissions assigned to the role.
