"Error: You cannot add or modify a config scheme as the field xyz is managed by Jira."

I'm running Jira 9.14.0 Data Center and I have a custom field called "Impact" on the server. This field was created by a marketplace application and is a managed field.

I want to make some adjustments to the fields context configuration. However, when I click on the edit button for the context configuration, I get:

"Error: You cannot add or modify a config scheme as the field 'customfield_10112' is managed by Jira."

I've not seen that error before and I've been unable to google it. I'm sure I've changed the configuration contexts for managed fields previously, so I'm wondering if this is some new validation that Jira applies?

If anyone has information about this error, and suggestions to work around it, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know which market place application you are using. I would check the documentation of the app that created the field to see if there are some settings or permissions that would allow your modification.
