"Days in Column" indicator dots – behaviour and customisation?

What rules apply to the colour coding of the "Days in Column" indicator dots? I find contradicting information in the documentation:

• https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver085/customizing-cards-981156310.html mentions that they turn yellow after 20 days.
• https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-cards/#Customizingcards-UsingDaysincolumn says that they turn yellow after 3 days

In our setup it seems that the first description applies – which in our particular setup doesn't make much sense (20 days is way to long). Is there a way to customise the colour coding ranges, or at least select the behaviour described on the second page above?
