how to have a timeline view for all projects together

Saravanan Nallasamy December 24, 2024

I can see the timeline view under each project. But for our leadership we need to generate a timeline view for the entire portfolio that has all the projects that we have on JIRA. Is there such a feature available? or can we generate a report with jql queries?

Hi @Saravanan Nallasamy ,

The Plans feature might be what you're looking for. However, it is available only in Jira Premium and not in the Standard edition (which is the one you’re using). You can learn more about Plans through these links:

Alternatively, you can explore third-party apps. I looked into it for you and found ActivityTimeline and Planyway for Jira. Please note, I am not affiliated with either of them.

All the best,

Hi @Sarp Egemen Thanks for your immediate response. Let me check the references you have given me including third party apps (Assuming they provide some trial period), if it meets my needs and expectations.

Hi @Saravanan Nallasamy ,

A warm welcome to you!

I think the suggestion about Jira Advanced Planning is a great one. It's definitely a powerful tool for portfolio management, but as mentioned, it’s only available in Jira Premium.

If you're exploring alternatives, I’d be happy to share some details about Planyway, which might be a good fit for your needs as well.

Planyway allows you to connect any number of Jira projects you manage and visualize them all together on one timeline. This feature makes it easy to build a portfolio roadmap, giving you a comprehensive view of all your projects.

Additionally, Planyway offers flexible grouping options, including by users and epics, while still allowing you to manage tasks across all connected projects.

We also offer a 30-day trial, so you can explore these features and see if it fits your team's needs.

Let me know if you'd like more information or need any help getting started!
