Hi @Alan Thomas Begley

The ability to log work is managed in the permission scheme used by your new Jira project.

To access it:

  • As an application or project-level admin, go to the project in Jira
  • Click the "Project settings" link at the bottom of the left sidebar
  • On the next page, click the "Permissions" link in the left sidebar

In the permission scheme, look for the line item called "Work On Issues". You'll need to make sure the desired users, groups, or roles are listed in the column on the right. (Or simply choose "Application access (Any logged in user)" to allow everyone to log time.)

Here's what to look for. (See grey highlighted section.)

To modify the permissions, click the "Actions" button at the top right of the page and choose "Edit permissions". (Not pictured.)

NOTE: Keep in mind that this permission scheme may be powering multiple projects. Changing the settings here will also change them for any project associated with the scheme.

Letting users log time, in all projects, is a good practice in my opinion. :)

Hope this helps!
