How do i add a filter on components on the backlog page of a project. I want see only issues related to specific component. currently i see an option to filter on Epic instead of that i want filter to select the component i want.
On the backlog, click on Quick Filters -> Manage Quick Filters
There you can create a quick filter as per your need. Have you tried that?
So as per my understanding, I have to create one filter each for every component i add. So whenever i add a new component i need to add another JQL query to add a filter for that component.
But i was looking for something, that system shows up the available components in the filter. like how it shows the filter for Epic with all the epics available.

Epic is an issuetype and JQL is written based on that.
Similarly, you can write JQL for your Components. It could be one component or it could be multiple using in clause

Is my understanding correct on the filter ? so i should be writing one query for each component if i have to add in quick filters

You can add quick filters based on your required criteria. Go to Configure Board > Quick Filters and add a new filter.
Once done, it will be visible in the Quick Filters dropdown in the Backlog:
