Hi @JK Welcome to the Atlassian community.

If you want to add/create new issue type in your Jira site then you can follow the below document to add the new issue-type to your project, for this you need a Administer Jira global permission, as you are a site admin then you can give the Administer Jira permission to your account if not already have.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-edit-and-delete-an-issue-type/

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/manage-global-permissions/

For adding a new issue type in team-managed project you can follow the below document

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/set-up-issue-types-in-team-managed-projects/

If the project is company-managed then below document will help to edit the issue-type scheme and add the newly created issue type in the issue type scheme or add the existing one, (If the issue type scheme is shared with other project then the changes will reflect on those projects as well)

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-edit-and-delete-an-issue-type-scheme/

If you don't want to update the existing issue type then you can create a new one by copying the current one and then add the new issue type in it as mentioned in the above document then associate this new issue type scheme to your project.

Hello @JK

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What is the Type of the project; Team Managed or Company Managed? You can find that information on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

If it is Team Managed then issue types are added from the Project Settings within the project.

If it is Company Managed then you have to modify the Issue Type Scheme associated with the project. That is done by clicking the gear icon, selecting Issues, and then finding the scheme under Issue Type Schemes. To that you can issue types that have been made available under the Issue Types list.

Hi JK - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You must be a Jira Admin to be able to add those.

Go to Settings > Issues > Issue Types.

If you do not see the Issues option then you don’t have that permission.
