email handler creates same tasks several times in the board

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I've configured an incoming email handler to create a new task. We use gmail as a POP/IMAP server. The problem I am facing is that when I send an email to the account, the task is created multiple times.
