We would like to allow a designated person to be linked with an issue (in addition to the assigned person) so they are able to just view it (rather that edit it). Could anyone help with how we might set this up?

Hi @Andrew Renault

Create a custom field of the type single user.

If you want that user mentioned on all updates on the issue, you can create  a custom notification in the notification scheme used by the project

The custom notification should be set on the custom field created and choose the notification you want to have the user in the CF notified on.

Or you could create an automation rule that based on the trigger sends an email to the user mentioned on the CF field

Hi @Andrew Renault and welcome to the community!

Do both people have a JSM license and edit access normally?

Otherwise, if second person is always just a view-only, you can set up a project role that only gives view access and internal comments or something like that and then use a custom field (User Picker) to appoint this person :)
