custom fields required for parent task and optional for sub task-how to implement

This widget could not be displayed.

Create two field configurations, one with mandatory fields and one without.

Create a field configuration scheme, selecting the mandatory scheme for parent task types, and the optional one for sub-task types, then associate it with the project(s)

Thanks for the quick response. I did create the field configurations separately for parent and sub tasks. But am not able to associate the sub task field configuration scheme with the project. Is it possible to give me step by step instructions.

You do that from the project administration screens - find the config page then look for the links to "select another scheme"
