I upgraded JIRA Software from JIRA 6.4.
After creating board, the error message is shown when I go to the board.

I have the same error message. It even happens when creating a new JIRA Scrum project.

I solved it by looking for incompatible add ons (in JIRA admin, or <JIRA root>/plugins/servlet/upm). In my case there was the Jenkins Plugin for Jira which was enabled and showed Screen Shot 2015-10-23 at 9.09.00 AM.png. I disabled the plugin and all the JIRA functions worked again as expected.
