Did you mean:

changing status of an item from the detail view screen?

Eli Moshe November 18, 2019

Hi,

i came across an interesting issue.

one of the TL's who uses jira in our company (we are on the cloud) says that in the past (not so much of a past, 2 weeks ago) she could change the status of the jira item in the sprint without fully open the item itself, just from the backlog screen.

i know about the keyboard shortcut and the other option from the 3 dots icon, but i also remember the ability to change status from the detail view was available in the past.

what am i missing here?

Hello @Eli Moshe

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

I believe you are talking about the possibility to change the issue status in the issue detail panel displayed at the right side of the board when clicking on the issues. Is that correct?

The status field is editable in the Issue Detail View when you have the new issue view turned on, however, the status field is only visible for the old issue view.

That being said, can you please check and let us know if the TL is using the old or the new issue view? To check it, you can ask him to click in his profile picture at the bottom left corner of JIRA application > Settings > check If the "New Jira issue view" is turned on:

Let me know if this information helps.

Hi,

thanks for the answer.

in the past, a couple of months ago the status field was also editable using the old jira view but now it looks like jira is trying to push the new UI so much that they disable features so the users will have to move.

not a good marketing strategy.
