i tried to change the email address of an user who left our organisation
what i understood is that i can enter a new email address and the an email to the currently assigned address is sent to confirm the change. but there is no email coming.
what to do now?

From what I understood, you want to change the email for an existing user via Admin Hub/User directory. That would mean that this is a managed account and you've verified the domain and claimed that account.
Sometimes, email addresses end up in a suppression list and Atlassian Support usually handles this in a way that they remove specified addresses from the mentioned list.
I would recommend reaching out to the support team with this problem/request.
