I need to call a webservice from Jira to create a case in another system and receive the case number. What would be the best way to implement this in Jira Core?

I have two calls to make, one to get an authentication token and another to create the case and receive the case number created.

Hi,
welcome to the Atlassian Community!

While I am not aware on a turnkey solution the basic tooling to meet the need will be Web Hooks" in Jira (Cloud). They can be tied to a post function in a workflow so the web service is called as soon as you create an issue.

Please find all further information on Web Hooks here:

https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/webhooks/

With a bit of development and testing it should be possible to make the call out to the web service. If the overall solution will be a success depends a bit on the way the web service is built.

Cheers,
Daniel
