XRAY with expired license

Hi guys, 

 

I would like to ask whether Xray add-on will normally work with expired regular license. We are in process of purchasing next license, but the expiration date will come sooner than we will have a new license. 

I didn´t find this kind of information in Xray documentation, so I hope you will help me.

Hi @Lucia Stypova,

Since you bought an Xray license for your Jira instance, even if the license has expired you can continue using Xray add-on as you did before, because your license is "perpetual".

But please remember the following:

  • You can't raise support requests with an expired license.
  • You can't upgrade to any Xray newer versions released after the end of the license.

we have a very similar question - our license is due to expire at the end of the year, but we do not intend to make use of the Xray features before mid of next year.

Based on your answer to Lucia's question, our understanding is that Xray along with all of its test cases/sets/attachments etc can be used without any restrictions, and that an extension of the license is only required when support or an upgrade is needed?

 

In other words: once the license expires, there won't be any consequences with respect to access/storage/maintenance of data/test-cases/test-sets within Xray/JIRA?

Yes, once the license expires, none of your Xray configurations will be lost. And yes, you'll lose your support and update rights.

Hi @José Domingues _Xray_  just to double-check here, is my understanding correct:

If you have a paid or trial license and it expires, none of our Xray configurations will be lost, meaning there won't be any consequences with respect to access/storage/maintenance of existing data/test-cases/test-sets within Xray/JIRA. 
But we have to keep in mind the following:
  • We can't raise support requests with an expired license.
  • We can't upgrade to any Xray newer versions released after the end of the license.
  • We won't be able to use the Xray app (my understanding is that we can't create new tests, reports, etc. but only access the existing ones which have been created during the time the license was active)

Hi @katharina_rott 

You are correct except for the last point.

You will be able to use Xray and create new issues, reports, etc. what you can't use is the Xray Mobile App and the Xray Exploratory App.
