Workaround Needed: Sprint Gadgets for Kanban Board

jdiglio April 6, 2020

Due to the lack of functionality with sub-tasks on Scrum Boards my team has switched to a Kanban Board. However, of course, the sprint gadets (sprint burndown, sprint health, days remaining) don't work anymore. Now, we are stuck choosing between which functionality we would rather be without. Any suggestions on how to get around either of these problems?

Hi @jdiglio

Our Great Gadgets app for Jira includes a variety of gadgets that might be helpful for you.

For example, you could use Release Burndown Chart gadget to display the burndown (it is based on a filter, not on Scrum dashboard). In addition, it includes some other useful gadgets (Kanban Velocity, Cycle Time, etc). The gadgets can be configured to include sub-tasks in the calculation.

Hi @jdiglio

What is the issue with sub-tasks on Scrum Boards you're referring to?

To use these specific gadgets or inbuilt reports, you'll need to be using the Scrum Board.

You could get an app which provides more gadgets or reporting functionality - such as Custom Charts for Jira, Individual Velocity or Advanced Burndown Chart. You could also recreate reports using a BI Tool or Excel - Cloud can be connected to Google Spreadsheets or Excel Office 365 for example.

But it'd be worth exploring what blockers to using Scrum in Jira there are for you first.

Hi @Stephen Wright _Elabor8_ ,

Thank you for the response. The functionality regarding sub-tasks is not being able to view them seperately in the backlog.
