Why can't IE9 users select a component?

JIRA users on IE9 are not able to select a component. This is in either compatibility view. Is there a solution, workaround or fix?

JIRA 4.3 doesn't support IE9 ( http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA043/Supported+Platforms and https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-24704 ).

This is for the simple reason that 4.3 was released before IE9 was, and adding IE9 support required a great deal of changes and retesting that couldn't be done in a point release. JIRA 4.4 will include IE9 support.
