Why can't I edit more than 50 issues with api?

Edited

Hello, I have jira data center v8.20.7 and admin permissions.

We are trying to edit issues and update a custom field with new text through an api request.

The request worked on the first 50 results but is not working on the issues that are after that.

We succeeded to pull all relevant issues (more than 50) and are trying to update all of them in one api request.

jira returns us a log that it updated all of the issues (returns answer 204) when in reality it did nothing.

can anyone please help me understand how can I fix it?

thank you in advance!
