I have Admin permissions in Jira Cloud with several team-managed projects. I need to create an additional board for one of these projects. But when I click on "Create board" and select "Create a board based on an existing project", the drop-down list of projects is empty - the only option is to create a personal board. Why is that?
You can create Scrum or Kanban boards only in Company-managed software projects, it is not possible to create these boards under below type of projects.
Company-managed business
Team-managed software
Team-managed business
Check you project type and then try creating board on Software projects.
Thanks,
Sekhar.

Actually, it didn't work. I have a Company-managed software project in my Jira and I can't create boards there - exactly like I described in the initial post.

@sekhar reddy Perhaps this has changed now. Because the default kanban example they use now falls under "Team-managed software" and ironically I'm trying to make a kanban or scrum board for "Company-managed software" project and it's not letting me.

@James Knight
In "Team Managed Software" project you will have board option but it is not a kanban board and you can not configure anything in that like kanban board.
For "Company-managed software" you might not have enough permission to create a board in that project, kindly check with your project admin or Jira admin on this, they can help you to create the board for you.

I am having this issue as well. As the Jira Admin -- I have full admin permissions, never had issues before, started this morning.

@Mac McCabe For some reason this resolved itself the next day, So I have Kanban under company Managed Project. I did notice that it wasn't fully mapped to my work flow, and I had to add a column for ready for QA, but it's working now,
