Why are some attachments not viewable unless I click "See the old view"

Bethany Holt August 8, 2019

Received these questions from one of our users.  I logged in as him and I see what he's describing, but I can't figure out why it's happening.  Any suggestions?

  1. There are some comments that I’ve made on issues that won’t let me edit them
  2. I don’t see all of the attachments on an issue unless I click the link at the top that says “See the old view”
  3. Sometimes some of the attachments don’t show up at all even though there is a comment showing that the attachment was uploaded

Hello Bethany,

I believe the user is being impacted by the bug below:

New issue view won't preview some attachments (extensions)

It seems that some attachments with different extensions from JPEG are not properly rendered in the new issue view of JIRA, although they can be downloaded.

Feel free to vote and watch the bug to receive any updates about its fix implementation.

While our development team works to get it fixed, we suggest to keep checking the attachments using the old issue view or download them.

Let me know if you have any questions.
