Which file encoding should I use for importing CSV having German (non-Ascii) characters

Arpit Doshi August 5, 2014

Hi,

I am working on Migerating data from Clearquest to JIRA.

I have an csv extract having german (non-ascii) characters in summary and description field. When I use UTF-8, JIRA convert it into ascii characters. I want to keep those characters as it is.

Which file encoding should I use while importing ?

Example word : können

Hi Arpit,

we convert our CSVs to UTF-8 and the import works with German Umlauts.

What I recognized: I have to "rename" the column-headers and have to remove the umlauts or "ß". That works for the mapping during the csv-import.

The content still stays untouched.

Kind regards
André

Hi Andre,

Thanks for your response. Could you please let me know how you converted CSV to UTF-8 ?

Thanks,

Arpit
