I have a component I want to archive, however the component still has open issues (tasks) attached to it that are still activity being worked. I want to be able to archive that specific component so it cant be used going forward, but I want to make sure the issues still say open and are workable. I couldn't find info that really explained what happens to the issues if the component is archived, and I don't wanna archive anything without knowing the results.

Hello @cassandra kline

Thank you for reaching out Atlassian Support.

If you archive a component in Jira, the component will no longer be selectable for new issues, but any existing issues associated with that component will remain open and fully workable. The archived component will still be visible in those issues, but it will not appear in the component dropdown for future issues.

If you need further assistance or have any other concerns, feel free to reach out.

Thanks,
Shreeja J
