So I deleted a project by mistake and from everything I have read I should have a trash folder under Project Settings.  I am an jira-admin but I only see Projects, Project Catagories, and Archived Projects.

Need some help to figure out what I am missing here.  Is there no trash option in datacenter edition and only in cloud?

Hi @Paul Copsey , welcome to the Community!

The "Trash" is only for Cloud right now; for Data Center, don't hesitate to upvote this open ticket.

Sadly, if a project has deleted, it has gone completely in the Data Center. That's why you need to be careful and should run backup jobs regularly (scheduled).

If you have a recent backup, you can get the project from there:

  • Install a Jira instance to another server and import the latest backup
  • Create the project with the same configuration in your prod instance.
    • You can export/import the workflow via XML import.
  • Export the issues from the temporary Jira instance
  • Import them to your prod environment
