Because we don't want to link each individual stories at the team level to the epics in Product Backlog instead just link the epics at team level to the epics at Product Backlog level.

What I meant was can we establish link from an epic (project of low level requirements which contain a group of user stories) to an epic (another project but with higher level of requirements)? If it does work, then we don't have to link each user story at the low level to the high level epic.

Despite the extra functionality in Greenhopper Epics are "normal JIRA issues". Therefore you can link them any way you want
