We are having issues with the Velocity Report display Completed green bars.

Aaron Garton July 27, 2022

We are having issues with the Velocity Report display Completed green bars. Currently our Velocity Report only shows the Committed (grey bar) lines. While the Completed (green bars) do not display at all. Even though we have Stories and Tasks marked as Done during the Sprint timeline. We understand the Done work should display, but even the Completed column lists 0 (Zero) points completed. What is the trigger point for the Jira Velocity Chart for Done (Green) bars?

Also our Sprint Burn down chart does display Stories and Tasks as Done, in the Done section of the Burn Down- Completed Issues. Investigation so far is focus on our Sprints (customized time), the bulk move allows to move to two sprints '22' and '23' and only these two. But in the Backlog view these two sprints ('22' and '23')do not display, while our normal May, June, July, August Sprint do display. We have also investigated the Workflow and Issue status selections, but so far we do not find any issues.

Thanks

Hello @Aaron Garton

Welcome to the community.

Here are a few things to check, in regard to the issue in your first paragraph.

1. Look at the filter for your board. Is it written in a way that issue in your "done" status are getting included in the board?

2. Look at the mapping of Statuses to Columns of your board. Is your "done" status mapped to a column on the board?

3. Look at the position of the column that had the "done" status. Is that column the one farthest to the right on your board?

I'm not sure I understand the issue you are describing in your second paragraph, but let me see if I can address is.

If you are talking about searching for issues in the Issue Navigator screen and then using the Bulk Change option to change the Sprint field, then what you must enter there is the behind-the-scenes unique numeric ID assigned to the sprint by Jira. You can't enter the name of the sprint. The name of the sprint is what you see in the Jira board. To figure out the ID of the sprint you can go to the Issue Navigator screen and enter the criteria to search for the sprint by name.

As you start to type in the name of the sprint there, you will see a list of possible matches displayed. The ID of the sprint is shown in parentheses.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill

The Velocity report is now fixed, I can view the Done (Green) bars. It was related to #2 I added the Done column back into the Sprint Board, the Done issues now display in the Velocity Report. Thanks.

As far as the Sprints, I can bulk move Issues into Sprint #2 and #3, but can not bulk move issues into future Sprints #36 and #37.

Likewise I can move issues into future sprints #36 and #37 from the Backlog, but I can not move issues into Sprints #2 and #3 from the Backlog.

We only have one active Sprint #30. Thanks

Can you provide screen images of what you are seeing with regard to moving issues into sprints?

When you say you can't move the issues, what is the "symptom" that indicates you can't complete the task? Is there an error message, or something else?

Can you edit the Sprint field of an individual issue and update it to include one of these sprints that you can't target when trying to bulk move issues?

Can you share the filter for the board with us?

Thanks Trudy.

No error messages for the Sprints, it appears the issue is Issues Types being in multiple Sprints (multiple Closed and the active Sprint). We have resolved the issue by removing the Issue Types from the Active Sprint, moved all to future Sprints.

All issues resolved. Thanks.
