VPN access to JIRA

Artem Gulyaev October 8, 2013

Our startup is new to JIRA. Consequently a question of security appeared: is JIRA supposed to work only in intranet environment, or we can reliably use it on the open internet server? (surely, with all security recomendations)

I.e. using VPN access to work under adminirstrative user JIRA accounts and usual internet access to ordinary users.

Maybe one can reccomend some common schemes of JIRA deployment on open internet server.

PS: in the documentation I see only ways how to do this, or that, but no recomendations conserning supposed usage.

Thanks.

Hi, JIRA is capable to be out in the open :)

Atlassian OnDemand's platform is visible to the world.

You do have to take best practices on security though. Do you have specific questions?

Thanks a lot,

Specific questions are matter of documentation, don't want to put this load on others.

We just needed to take a direction and not to waste time to try all variants of deployment.

Thanks once again
