Using a different Kanban Issue Type Screen Scheme doesn't work

Henrik Nørby September 9, 2019

I try to re-use the same Scheme across multiple projects in the cloud version - i.e. have a template project.

When I create a new project, I may want to change the scheme.

I use the Actions "Use a different Scheme" and select what I want (an existing one), but there is absolutely no changes to the panels in the new project. All lists tells me that my two projects share the same scheme, but the layout of my Issue looks like it is not following the new scheme I choose.

It really looks like a bug to me, but being a newbie, I may do something strange.

Hello Henrik,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

I understand that, although you changed the Issue type screen Scheme of your project, their layout (Issue view/create/edit) is still not similar to another project using the same issue type scheme. Is it correct?

In order to confirm we are on the same page here, allow me to bring up some concepts:

An Issue Type Screen Scheme allows you to choose what Screen Scheme is used for each issue type.

Then, an Issue Type Screen Scheme can be associated with one or more projects, to specify what Screen Scheme, and hence what Screen should be used for a particular issue operation for the projects' issues.

Although a screen will define what fields are available in your project, the displaying of these fields and their sort in the issue view is configured under the Field Layout menu.

That being said, please navigate to both projects using the same issue type screen scheme and check under Project Settings > Issue Layout if both are configured with the same settings.

If that didn't help, please provide us with the differences (fields) between the two projects layouts so we can provide further details of what might be causing the issue.

Thx. for th answer.

In the meantime, I have found out that even though two projects use the same Issue type Screen theme, the fields displayed in the Issues are not the same. This is how it's designed and that really suck.

I would suggest that anyone with multiple similar projects vote the following feature request to a higher level; JRACLOUD-71630 - Ability to share Issue layout between projects

Hello Henrik,

You are welcome. I'm sorry to hear that the issue layout does not work as you expect.

In fact, I agree with you that an option to share the Layout with multiple projects would be a useful feature in JIRA.

That being said, I added this question in an internal comment in the feature request you mentioned, so the developers can check any other users that might be also be impacted by this lack.

P.S: I believe your link is broken. This one should work:

Ability to share Issue layout between projects

Have a nice day. :)
