Hello,

I am wondering about using Jira Plans to plot hours rather than days or weeks.  Currently we have a team charting time (in hours per week) in Excel and wants to integrate that into Jira if possible.  Does Jira Plans or an adjacent feature offer something that could fulfill this?

In this below header of a Jira Plan, I would want instead of the weeks Jan 3, 20, 27 etc. to be hours 1-40 in a specified week.

Below is a sample spreadsheet of how a team would be plotting time, which ideally could be integrated to Jira somehow.

Hi @Peter Erickson and welcome to the Community!

If you switch the time horizon of your plan to weeks, the calendar will show you individual days in the calendar. Pretty much like the example in your screenshot.

The focus of plans is more on when the scope should be delivered. That means you will see a timeline for the work items in your schedule, rather then hours planned by person. That approach puts the focus more on tracking if you will be able to deliver on time, rather than on making sure every user's plate is full.

Having said that, I do see plenty of organisations putting a strong focus on "managing capacity". You can find several marketplace apps that plug into Jira to bring this type of workforce planning and capacity insights into Jira.

Hope this helps!
