Hey team,

Looking for automation - The user should not be able to add a work log for more than 7 hours per day or the timer should stop when 7 hours are logged.

Also, send the email to the user if 7 hours are not logged per day.

Hello @Kafeel Khan

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Jira does not natively have features that enable you to determine how many hours are logged per day by a user, so there is not a way to accomplish this with native functionality including Automation.

Automation cannot prevent things from happening because automation rules are triggered after an even, such as logging time, has already been completed. At best automation could be used to undo what just occurred. But would you really want to undo the logging of time?

What are you trying to accomplish by blocking the user from logging more than 7 hours in a day? The user should only be logging time after they have completed the work. Do you truly want prevent the logging of actual time worked and end up with an inaccurate recording of time worked?

If you truly want to prevent the logging of time, according to this post there is a way to do so with the third party app Tempo Timesheets.
