hello,
I really know the answer to this I am just verifying.
I have a vendor who wants to create test sprints in my JIRA.
They want to use the same issue number in another sprint.
Example they want to take story1 and keep it story1 in a test automation sprint in the same instance of JIRA. I know in my client server days of Jira when we had duplicates they became corrupt and you would have to delete them and create a new issue.
The best I can offer them is clone this issue which will link it to the original.
So question is in Jira on demand you cannot use the same issue # twice correct.
Absolutely correct (and you can't do it on server either - there used to be bugs and hacks that let you create duplicates, but they break everything, horribly. Fortunately mostly fixed now)
Cloning may be their best option, as you suggest.
Thanks for the input. The vendor swears by this I would not let them anyway. It's become a argument but the just need to clone or create a new task for their test sprint.

Well, you can "use the same issue number in another sprint", but that means "using the same issue in the same sprint" - not re-using it, but taking the same issue into another sprint.
The whole point of a unique issue number is that it is unique!
