Upgrade Confluence 4.3.7 and Jira 5.0.5 to the newest versions of standalone

Hi everyone!

We have the following atlassian tools in prod using:

Confluence Version    4.3.7
Application Server    Apache Tomcat/6.0.32
Database name    PostgreSQL
Database version    8.4.20

Jira Version     5.0.5
Application Server Container     Apache Tomcat/6.0.32
Database type     postgres72
Database version     8.4.20

We need to migrate this tool to the last versions (confluence 6.4.1, jira 7.5.0)

Which versions(major) we need to proceed while upgrading?

Can we made an upgrade with the following steps (do not changing existing envirionment):

1 export posgtres db, atlassian profiles, attachments from existing envirionment

2 set up os, newest application container, newest postgres version and jira/confluence versions

3 import backuped data from step one to the new envirionment

And one more question. What about current users & users directories settings?

Will be enough just deactivate non-used users before migrations?

@Vasily Laptyukhin, check out the two Atlassian article discussing the upgrade process and paths for Confluence & JIRA.

Your steps look good to me, very similar to what I do as I like to leave my current instances alone in case there is a problem. Roll-back is very easy. Additionally, you will be able to test the new system while the existing is still in use.

Directory settings / users come over with a full DB export / import.
