Update default assignee when a new issue is created

Eman Khan October 3, 2024

I'm trying to update the default assignee when a new issue is created.  For some reason it keeps assigning the issue to a user who is no longer with the firm.  I've checked in the user groups and that person is not in there, so i'm not sure where else to check to make the updates.

Hi @Eman Khan

welcome to the atlassian community

Here are the few checks I would suggest:

1. Default assignee in the project details section of project settings. You need to be project admin to check this.

2. components default assignee

3. Automation rules to  see if users is being assigned after issue creation

please try above and let me know if that worked

You can get to Project settings from the bottom of the left hand toolbar:

If that doesn't work then look at the options @pinky_reddy suggested
