After upgrading to version 4.4.3 JIRA has stopped sending notification emails.
Notification scheme is set to notify creator, assignee and watchers on any change for the issues.
The email server has bin configured and verified and we are able to send mails by using the send email option on the admin/ViewMailServers.jspa page.
Yes we have attached the "default notification scheme" to the project. The notification scheme is set ut tp send mail to reporter, assignee and watchers for any change to an issue.

it's possible you are facing https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-25836 or related issue. I know a few customers have recently reported similar problem and till now two potential reasons (described in this issue) were found, but it's quite possible that there is something else. Feel free to raise a support request at https://support.atlassian.com .- that maybe needed to troubleshoot your issue.

Is some notificattion schema assigned to project (notifications enabled)?
