Dear Community,
I use the Timeline view in my Jira board. I can adjust “Start Date” and “Due Date” in all of my tickets, but in timeline only the Epics issue type has a visualization of this time frame. If I search in the www then I found some picture where it is also usable for other tickets like tasks here.
Is this a bug can I adjust it somewhere or is this the feature?
Thank you for your response.
Hello @Michael Ohme
Welcome to the community.
There are different Timeline features in Jira Cloud.
One is the timeline available with Jira Work Management (a.k.a. Business) projects. That is the one referenced in the link you provided.
The other is part of Advanced Roadmaps (for Software projects) that is available only in the Jira Cloud Premium subscription.
Or you may be working with a third party app added to your system that presents a Timeline feature.
To which one are you referring?
Hi Trudy,
thank you for your response. I guess it is the "normal" timeline for software projects.
We don't have a premium or enterprise account, I guess. Where can I see it? In my backend was no information available. Perhaps I have not all permissions.
It looks also not like a plugin. If I click at "project settings" in the left bottom side of the menu bar, then at "Features", I have the possibility to activate/deactivate it.
Kind regards Michael

You would need Jira Site Administration access to check the licensing for your Jira Cloud instance to find out if you have the Standard or Premium plan. You could check with your Jira Administrators to see if they have access to that information and to confirm if they have installed a third party app that is providing the Roadmap functionality.
In the Standard Jira Cloud plan I believe that only the time range for Epics will show in the Gantt chart in Roadmaps. I don't use the Roadmaps feature, but that is what my experimentation revealed.
Does your screen actually say "Timeline" on it, or does it say "Roadmap"? Can you show us a full screen image (blurring any sensitive data)?

Hi Trudy,
again, thanks for your time! I have admin permission in our Jira ;-) and it is a question of my colleagues, I can not solve with my skills.

Hello Michael,
Based on the image you provided you appear to have the Jira Standard subscription. In that case, time bars are available only for the Epic issue types in the native Roadmap feature for Jira Software projects.
To get time bars for issues that are children of Epics you would need to upgrade to the Jira Premium subscription or look at a third party product for managing your roadmap/timeline.

Hi Trudy,

Hi everyone,
I have the same issue with the now called Time Line (not Plan) feature. But I have an enterprise subscription. Epics does show a bar, task not.
What can I do?
