I have created a Kanban project for my IT project. I have a few tasks which take ony 2 days but the blocks on the timeline bar can only be dragged to a minimum of 5 days. Smaller is not possible. If I go into the task I can set the start date and end date so it shows two days, so that's a workaround. It would be easier though if I could drag the timeline bar to two days so I don't have to manually type it. Is there any way to do this? Is there any reason why it has a minimum of 5 days on the timeline?
Thanks,
Wim
Hi @Wim Stylemn ,
A warm welcome to you!
You can definitely switch to the weekly view of the Jira timeline and create or assign tasks for specific period.
However, if you're looking for a more flexible way to set and assign dates to tasks related to epics, you can check out Planyway timeline feature. It offers several grouping options, including by epics, and allows you to easily create tasks within each epic’s lane for any time frame you need.
Plus, with Planyway’s drag-and-drop functionality, you can quickly assign both dates and epics to tasks or subtasks, all in one go. You can also adjust task durations by stretching them, or even move tasks to different dates — all with just a few clicks.
And that’s just scratching the surface of what Planyway can do!
Hi @Wim Stylemn and welcome to the Community!
You can drag the timeline to a smaller number of days if you switch the timeline to week view near the bottom right of your screen.
I suppose this is a design choice (not taking any stand on if this is the right choice or not), as it probably becomes difficult to extend the schedule bars to the left or the right if they become too small in month view.
Hope this helps!
