There has to be a way to remove Done Epics from the side bar list in the backlog.

Audra Senterfitt May 24, 2024

I want to remove the Done Epics from the side panel in the main backlog. There is no Epic Status, Delete, or Cancel available for Jira Cloud. So, I am stuck with ALL of the epics in that view. I like to drag and drop my stories in the Epic but with so many showing, it is impossible. If there isn't a way, there needs to be. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

Hello @Audra Senterfitt

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

If your Epics have been set to a status that is color coded green then they should be getting hidden from the Epics panel automatically.

The Epics panel is supposed to hide Done issues based on the Status of the Epic being a Status that is part of the "Done" Status Category. If the status is color coded green, then it is part of the "Done" Status Category.

This was announced here. According to the post the change rollout should've been completed in September 2023.

If your Epics are set to a green Status and are still appearing in the Epics panel, we'll need to do some additional digging to debug the situation.

I found this bug in the Atlassian backlog that Done Epics are not removed from the panel in Team Managed projects when the child issues have more than one Done Status value.

Does that align with your scenario?

Hi @Audra Senterfitt and welcome to the Community!  You should have an Epic Status field.  Is it present on the Issue View Screen?  Maybe try the "Find your Field" link in the option menu for further guidance in your environment?

@Laurie Sciutti

It is no longer necessary to set the separate "Epic Status" field. See my response below.
