Team Managed Project - the story points entered not adding up

In the story points on a user story for a team managed project, they are not adding up to the field (nor reflected) on the backlog.  I change the story points to 8 in the story and refresh,and the backlog still shows 16 as it was initial.  Thoughts?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The story points get displayed in the status category to which the issue belongs. Please verify if the count is updated in the corresponding category. You may also check if the total estimate shown at the bottom of the list gets updated or not.

Example: If I update the story points on the second issue here, the change will be reflected in the blue colour one.

Also, team-managed projects use the Story point estimate field. Please ensure you're populating the correct field so its reflected in the Backlog section.
