Hello
I would like to know if it is possible to sync the epics and issues that we have in Jira Software projects with Jira Work Management? I would like to have oversight over work from all Jira Software projects in one place (team-managed project so unable to use advanced roadmaps).
Atlassian seems to suggest that 'Jira Work Management seamlessly integrates with Jira Software to connect business and software teams like no other tool can', but I'm finding it difficult to find information on how to do this or if it's even possible.
Thanks

Hello!
It looks like you are recommending a 3rd party application. We ask that Marketplace Partners read and follow our guidelines outline here.
In those guidelines, we request users such as yourself to identify yourself as a partner, and refrain from posting solely promotional material. We also ask that comments provided are educational and provide an explicit answer to the question.
See: We recommend adding a link to the marketplace with the relevant search term that lists the top apps for that category, which directs to your app and other relevant apps. This will allow you to promote your app, but still point towards a more complete answer about the topic.

Hi @Luke Crisp , welcome to the community and thanks for your question.
It depends a bit on what you mean by having everything sync-ed.
I have in my test instance, several Jira Software projects and several Jira Work Management projects and, where I have added, for example, the Epic Link field to the screens in Jira Work Management, you can link Epics from a Jira Software project to issues in a Jira Work Management project.
This is the point of view from the Epic in the Software project, but you could get a quick at-a-glance view, in this way, also of the status of any other issues in different projects with this Epic Link.
Is this what you meant? Or were you thinking more along the lines of a dashboard or a report?

And to add to Valerie's answer - it will depend on with they are Company-managed versus Team-managed. And you can so do issue links between issues if you need something on a common level like Epic to Epic or Task to Task.

Just pointing out, in the original post it is stated that the Software projects are Team Managed, so Advanced Roadmaps is not an option for oversight.

Hi all, thanks for your responses. I'd essentially like to have oversight over all of the software project work items in one place. As I'm using team-managed software, I cannot use advanced roadmaps as noted above.
I'm assuming there is a way to do this (other than creating a board using a filter) - is Jira Work Management capable of providing this oversight? Ie can you integrate all work items from all software projects to then be viewed in a WM board/calendar?
Thanks :)

Well, I guess I would start with team managed projects. I definition, these are independent projects, and have nothing in common with any other projects.
so, when you say, you want to see all of your info from all of your team, manage projects in one place, to me, that’s a misnomer. If 13 managed, you wouldn’t be looking at multiple of them because they’re independent by definition.
that’s why you’re having trouble finding a way to do what you want to do, in my opinion. I would go the route of making them company, manage projects, and then using advanced, roadmaps, or boards.
if you stay with all team manage projects, you’re going to be limited, and that probably means a board.

Yeah, this is what I thought. Unfortunately I do not have the option to moved to company-managed projects at this moment in time as I'm working in a team as part of a wider organisation, and am only granted certain access permissions by our systems administrators
I understand Atlassian are working on developing advanced roadmaps for team-managed projects which would obviously help solve the issue I'm encountering, but I was (optimistically) hoping there might be a workaround via JWM

There are some Marketplace add-ons that might help with that as well.

@Luke Crisp hello. As John mentioned, you can take look at the Atlassian marketplace for external help. ZigiOps might help you sync the issues/epics between Jira & Jira WM easily. It's easy, doesn't require additional coding and it's secure (does not store any of your data).
