Hi,

Yes, you can definitely synchronize Jira Server and Cloud.

You will have to use an app for that. We are the developers of the Exalate Issue Sync app.

You'll be able to synchronize any issue data of one of your instances to the other.

This will happen in real-time. That way, you'll always be in the loop on progress status, comments, attachments and even work-logs or change history.

You'll be able to easily customize exactly what you'd like to sync and who you'd like to sync it with.

Like the following example.

If you want, I can show you exactly how it would work for your use case through a one-on-one demo. You can book one here: Book A Demo.

Let me know!

Cheers,
Stefaan

Is there any need to configure the firewall? Is there a way to sync up without involving firewall changes?

Hi @Narayanan Thyagarajan,

as long as your internal Jira can access the internet, you don't need to change any firewall settings - that's at least true for Exalate and Backbone Issue Sync. You can also check out the corresponding information in their docs:

I'm working for the team behind Backbone Issue Sync.

Cheers,
Matthias.

Hi Jakob,

Yes, it's possible to synchronize issues between JIRA Server and Cloud with the help of Backbone Issue Sync for JIRA. It offers granular configuration for issue types, workflows and attachments.

If you have any questions, we'll be happy to help.

Cheers,
Roman.

Does the server and cloud instance have to be exactly the same? (i.e user tier, user name, version, permission, etc)

Hi Nguyen,

No, this is not necessary. Server and Cloud instances could be have completely different user tiers, permissions and so on. If you are interested on where to start with Backbone, here is the link to the documentation.

Cheers,
Roman.

Hi Roman,

Is there a way to sync between a JIRA on-prem and cloud without configuring firewall? Assume that there is access to Internet from the on-prem.

Regards,

Narayan

Hi Jakob Fogh Frisenvang,

I'm IssueSYNC Product Owner.

You can use existing solution to synchronize multiple Jira instances like IssueSYNC.

It works for:

- cloud

- server

- data center deployments and supports different Jira version 6, 7, 8 and Jira editions

- Core

- Software

- Service Desk.

You setup whole integration via UI and you can let your project administrator's to setup/tune own synchronization for remote Jira connections prepared by sys admin before.

If you have questions, please contact us.

Cheers,

Łukasz

Instead of synchronizing the issues you could also create Applinks between the Cloud and Server instances and then use the JIRA Issue Linking feature. Then you could at-least see then links between your issues.

Is it possible to use this method to sync between on-prem JIRA and cloud JIRA without configuring firewall?

Take a look at ConnectAll. Few of our customers use it for the same use case.

Other than the ConnectAll, is there any other suggestions on syncing issues between a cloud and server instance of JIRA?
