We would like to do our vacation time management in JIRA, so I'm trying to look at the different options. At this time we do not want to do time tracking on issues, we're just wanting to manage people's vacation time/sick time, have a place for them to request time off, managers can approve requests, etc. I've looked at the Minyaa and Tempo plugins and wondered if anyone has any feedback on either of these options, or if there's any good ways to do it just within JIRA. We're not sure we want to pay for a plugin like Tempo when we don't want to use it for full time tracking.

Even if you don't need full time-tracking, you can still get a lot of value with Tempo for vacation time management and resource planning. If you plan vacations in Tempo, then you will see team members availability based on vacation and other allocations.

Hi,
You can achieve this with Time Off Management and Auto Assignment.
It provides managing non-working days and automatic assignment of issues. You can set user's time away from work and have specified alternatives assigned.
