I'm looking at native options within Jira IT Service Project where I can have a portal group design that is shown in the screenshot. I saw another post with the similar question and they mentioned using single select lists but I'm not sure how those tie in.
I essentially want the portal to show

What that post is referring to is using a Select List field within each request type to specify the "subgroup". You would create that field and populate it with the choices you would want for the lowest level subgroup, and add that field to the Request type form.
The customer would have to first select a Request type from those you add to the portal groups. When the form for that Request type is displayed then they would select the "subgroup" from the selection list.
